On the off chance you receive this, but don't check the web site all
that often, Thought I would at least drop a note to the list about some
of the goings on...
First up is a request for advice in our forums. Tom Green /w1sdm is
looking for some advice on whether it's worth the effort to take down
some towers. I know where they are, but have no input on whether the
effort or concerns are worth while.
I've blogged on the current 'state' of our repeaters.
And Peter has posted a note about our various e-mail lists. If you are
interested in contesting at the club, there's even a list or reflector
for staying on top of those. Much like Bert's Yahoo Groups mailing list,
but through the club.
Bert has an outstanding summary of where we will be, and what we need to
do for Field Day.
Our Wanted/For Sale forum could use a bit of traffic. Remember a lot of
younger hams are not as familiar with the swapnets, swap meets, and
Hamfests. If you would really like to get some good equipment that
you're not using now into the hands of a new ham so they can start
learning the joys of being on the air, this is a great space to let them
know what you're interested in selling or parting with.
Our calendar has the appearance of an agenda now, which may make it more
useful to you for knowing what's coming up. Looks like a couple of
Hamfests and swapmeets, Field day, and what to you know there's a club
meeting on the agenda.
That's right. Tonight, May 13, we have a meeting starting at 7:30, and
after the business meeting we have a presentation by Jon Platt, W0ZQ,
and Donn Baker, WA2VOI titled 'Fun at 10,368.100 MHz." From the card
club members should have received last week the details are:
"Jon and Donn share the fun world above two meters. Special antennas,
low noise amps, heavy duty coax and more unlock propagation and span
distances far beyond imagination. With a few watts, they’ll share
engineering and operating skills to keep cost down and efficiency up,
crossing the globe in VHF and UHF. Be sure to see their fascinating
presentation."
I plan on being there, and hope to see you there as well.
Remember as well, we have Newsletters, and the opportunity to join or
renew your club membership online at the http://tcfmc.org web site. Log
in and let people know what your up to. Post pictures of you current
projects.
